Clio makes pots that are to be used and enjoyed; they are also an expression of her interests in the natural world, of wildlife, particularly birds, and landscape, combined with poetry which adds another dimension and often sparks off ideas for decoration.
All of her work is hand-thrown on a kick-wheel and then decorated with slip, which is basically white or coloured liquid clay, which is applied onto the earthenware pot using a range of techniques, such as sgraffito, brushwork or slip-trailing to build up the design.
Clio makes many individually commissioned pieces for weddings, or other commemorative occasions. She also sells her work through several craft shops and galleries. Clio is a member of ‘Makers’ the cooperative craft gallery in Taunton.
